In Urban Reign, players take on the role of a gritty street fighter who has been hired by one of the dominant gangs in the city to protect its leader. Players are immersed in a true turf war, involving gang corruption and street justice that extends from the neighborhood block to the upper levels of city government. Urban Reign allows players to fight non-stop in the downtown area with no time restrictions or referees. Alleys, junkyards, and bars serve as battlegrounds for over 60 different fighters, each with their own set of fighting styles, including boxing, wrestling, and street fighting.
Players can choose from over 30 weapons - including bottles, bats, and 2x4s - to use in the destructible arenas to add to the chaos. Focusing on the urban brawling style of fighters, players can team up with an AI-controlled character to perform a multitude of devastating and destructive combo maneuvers against multiple enemies throughout the game's 100 missions. Urban Reign also supports multi-tap gameplay for up to four players to determine who truly rules the hood.
