At the start of the game, the players all receive the same number of cards representing monuments, inventions, etc. On the back of each card is a date.
To start, a card is drawn at random from the cards not dealt to the players. It is placed in the center of the table with the date visible and constitutes the starting point of a chronological line which will be gradually completed by the players. The first player then chooses one of his cards. If he thinks that the date of the invention of his card dates from before that of the initial card, he places his card to the left of the latter. If he believes that his invention was created later, he places his card to the right of the initial card.
The player's card is then turned over, date side up. If he's right, she stays put. Otherwise, his card is discarded and he must draw another to replace it. The game continues clockwise.
The more cards placed, the more difficult it is to place new ones without making a mistake! The first player to run out of cards wins.
