The PlayStation 1 is a fifth generation video game console, designed in 1994 by Sony Computer Entertainment, a subsidiary entirely dedicated to the video game industry of the Japanese group Sony Corporation.
The PlayStation logo is created by Manabu Sakamoto and the design of its controller is entrusted to Teiyu Goto, whose choice of buttons was explained as follows:
-The green triangle refers to the viewpoint.
-The pink square symbolizes a sheet of paper representing menus or documents.
-The red circle and the blue cross represent "yes" and "no".
The PlayStation 1 is therefore the first device in the PlayStation range, then available in several models and versions including the Net Yaroze released in 1997 and the PSone in 2000.
The Sony console presents a catalog of more than 7900 games and flagship franchises such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Wipeout, Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy and Tekken.
Gran Turismo is PlayStation 1's best-selling game with 10.85 million units distributed. While Tekken was the first game to exceed one million units sold, the last game produced on the console was FIFA Football 2005.
