Boo are spectral beings with piercing eyes, long tongues, and sharp fangs. They first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3, under the name Boo Diddly, a play on words with Bo Diddley.
In Super Mario World, there are much larger variants of Boo, called Big Boo. All Boos are ghostly creatures capable of passing through solid matter.
