Adding a second screen to your living room opens up a whole host of new gaming possibilities while giving the family a wide variety of ways to personalize their entertainment.
Until then, video games played on home consoles were confined to television and offered identical points of view to each player in a multiplayer environment.
Also, watching TV and playing video games were completely separate experiences. The new controller erases these distinctions by creating a more dynamic and fluid gaming and entertainment experience.
In single player mode:
- The new controller can display information on its screen that does not appear on the television screen.
- The information and point of view displayed on the controller's screen may also vary depending on the orientation of its gyroscopic sensor.
In multiplayer mode:
- The player using the new controller can have a different experience from players watching the TV screen. This could give rise to many possibilities in terms of cooperative and competitive play.
In addition to its 6.2-inch screen, the new controller is also equipped with an accelerometer, gyro sensor, vibration function, front camera, microphone and speakers .
Each Wii U console will come with a new controller and can accommodate up to four additional Wii Remotes or Wii Plus Remotes.
The console is also backward compatible and can play all Wii games and use all Wii accessories.
