Roger Hayden was one of twenty humans who had been given psionic powers by Brainiac. Hayden believed that his Medusa mask allowed him to control the virus.
He escaped from the HIVE Queen, who was draining the energies of the twenty, and found Superman. Hayden informed him that Brainiac would use the twenty as hosts for the minds of people from his destroyed home planet.
Hayden tried to drain Superman's energy to free the twenty, but Lois Lane defeated him.
