Mankind Divided takes place immediately following the "Aug Incident", the day in which mechanically augmented citizens around the world were deprived of control of their minds and bodies, resulting in the deaths of millions of innocent.

We are now in 2029, and the golden age of raises is over. Mechanically augmented humans are seen as marginalized and isolated from the rest of society.
